The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Maurice Dumas, Raymond Lavigne, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Mark Muise.
Acting Members present: Ted White for Eric Lowther, Mike Scott for Jim Pankiw, Paul Crête for Suzanne Tremblay, Rick Laliberté for Wendy Lill.
Other member present: John Duncan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais; Luc Gagné, Researchers.
Witnesses: From the Ainsworth Jenkins Holdings Inc.: Ben Ainsworth, Secretary. From The North Coast Oil & Gas Task Force: Bill Belsey, Vice-Chair. From the Prince Rupert City Council: Jack Mussallem, Mayor. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Tuesday, December 1, 1998, a study of Bill C-48, An Act respecting marine conservation areas.
Bill Belsey, Ben Ainsworth, Jack Mussalem and Pat Green made opening statements and, with Bruce Amos, answered questions.
At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
