THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1998

 

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:20 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Clifford Lincoln and Mark Muise.

Acting Member present: Denis Coderre for Mauril Bélanger; Jocelyne Girard-Bujold for Suzanne Tremblay; and Rick Laliberté for Wendy Lill.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Susan Alter and Lynn Myers, Research Officers.

Witness: From the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation: Nellie Cournoyea, Chair, Chief Executive Officer; Ruben Green, Chairman, Paulatuk Community Corporation; and Richard Binder, Resource Analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Friday, April 3, 1998, a study of Bill C-38, An Act to amend the National Parks Act.

Nellie Cournoyea, Ruben Green and Richard Binder made opening statements and answered questions.

At 1:03 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
