MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
(Meeting No. 15)

(WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 1998)

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:36 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Clifford Lincoln, Sarmite Bulte, Joe Jordan, Dennis Mills, Jacques Saada, Deepak Obhrai, Suzanne Tremblay and Wendy Lill.

Acting Members present: Alex Shepherd for Mauril Bélanger.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: René Lemieux and Susan Alter, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Laval University: Ivan Bernier, Professor, Faculty of Law. From the Canadian Conference of the Arts: Keith Kelly, National Director and Paul Spurgeon, Associate.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the consideration of its Study on Canadian Culture.

Ivan Bernier , Keith Kelly and Paul Spurgeon made opening statements and answered questions.

At 4:50 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
