Tuesday, May 11, 1999
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Ted McWhinney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Maurice Dumas, John Godfrey, Joe Jordan, Inky Mark, Ted McWhinney and Caroline St-Hilaire.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joe Jackson, Researcher.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Museums Associations: John G. McAvity, Executive Director. From the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts: Danièle Archambault. From the National Gallery of Canada: Daniel Amadei, Director, Expositions and Installations. From the "Société des musées québécois": Michel Perron, General Director.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Friday, April 23, 1999, a study of Bill C-64, An Act to establish an indemnification program for travelling exhibitions.
John G. McAvity, Danièle Archambault and Michel Perron made opening statements, and with Daniel Amadei, answered questions.
At 12:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
