Thursday, May 6, 1999

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:12 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Joe Jordan, Raymond Lavigne, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Ted McWhinney, Dennis Mills and Caroline St-Hilaire.

Acting Member present: Paul Crête for Maurice Dumas.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joe Jackson, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation: Guylaine Saucier, Chair of the Board of Directors; Perrin Beatty, President and CEO and Michel Tremblay, Chief Planning and Business Development Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Guylaine Saucier and Perrin Beatty made opening statements and with Michel Tremblay answered questions.

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
