TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 1998
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:04 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Pat O'Brien, Jacques Saada, Deepak Obhrai, Jim Pankiw, Paul Crête, Angela Vautour and Mark Muise.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Susan Alter and Sonya Dakers, Research Officers.
Acting Members present: Paul Crête for Suzanne Tremblay and Angela Vautour for Wendy Lill.
Witnesses: From Canadian NatureFederation: Kevin McNamee, President. From the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society: Dr. Gordon Nelson, Board of Trustees and Mary Granskou, Executive Director.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of the House dated Thursday, March 19, 1998. The Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-29, An Act to establish the Canadian Parks Agency and to amend other Acts as a consequence.
Kevin McNamee and Mary Granskou made opening statements and answered questions.
At 12:32 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
