WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 1998
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Jacques Saada, Deepak Obhrai, Jim Pankiw, Suzanne Tremblay and Mark Muise.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Susan Alter and Sonya Dakers, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From Keeseekoowenin Ojibway First Nation: Chief Dwayne Blackbird; James Plewak, Member of the Nation; Elder Walter Scott and James Bone, Councilor.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of the House dated Thursday, March 19, 1998. The Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-29, An Act to establish the Canadian Parks Agency and to amend other Acts as a consequence.
Chief Dwayne Blackbird and Elder Walter Scott made an opening statement and with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:15 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
