TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1997

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:06 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Clifford Lincoln, Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Dennis Mills, Pat O'Brien, Jim Abbott, Eric Lowther, Deepak Obhrai, Caroline St-Hilaire and Mark Muise.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: René Lemieux and Susan Alter, Research Officers.

Witnesses: Bernard Ostry, Former Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Communications, Citizenship and Culture of the federal and provincial government and former Chairman et CEO of TV Ontario and Florian Sauvageau, Professor, Laval University.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Consideration of the Canadian Culture Study

Bernard Ostry and Florian Sauvageau made statements and answered questions.

At 1 :00 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
