Meeting No. 11

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 1997

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:08 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 705 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Clifford Lincoln, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Dennis Mills, Jacques Saada, Jim Abbott, Eric Lowther, Caroline St-Hilaire, Suzanne Tremblay and Wendy Lill.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: René Lemieux and Susan Alter, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Industry Canada: Keith Parsonage, Acting Director General, Information & Communications Technologies; Jamie Hum, Director, New Media & Entertainment and Sylvain de Tonnancour, Econimist, New Media & Entertainment.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Consideration of the Canadian Culture Study.

Keith Parsonage and Jamie Hum made opening statements and answered questions.

At 12:30 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
