TUESDAY, MAY 5, 1998
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:10 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 269, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Clifford Lincoln, Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Jacques Saada, Deepak Obhrai, Caroline St-Hilaire and Mark Muise.
Acting Member present: Rick Laliberté for Wendy Lill.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Susan Alter and René Lemieux, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the National Gallery of Canada: Pierre Théberge, Director. From the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation: Adrienne Clarkson, O.C., Chairwoman. From the Canadian Museum of Nature: Frank Ling, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Joanne DiCosimo, President and CEO. From the National Museum of Science and Technology: Christopher J. Terry, Director General, National Museum of Aviation.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on Canadian Culture.
Pierre Théberge, Adrienne Clarkson, Frank Ling, Joanne DiCosimo and Christopher Terry made opening statements and with the other witnesses, answered questions.
On motion of Jacques Saada, It was agreed,--That the amount of $23,200.00 be approved for a budget submission for the period of April 1, 1998 to June 30, 1998.
At 12:30 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
