THURSDAY JUNE 4, 1998

 

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:20 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Clifford Lincoln, Mark Muise and Pat O’Brien.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais, Research Officer.

Witness: From the National Archives of Canada: Françoise Houle, Director General, Client Services and Communications Branch; Lee McDonald, Assistant National Archivist. From the National Library of Canada: Tom Delsey, Director General, Corporate Policy and Communications; Dr. Marianne Scott, National Librarian.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of a Canadian cultural policy.

Marianne Scott, Lee McDonald and Tom Delsey made statements and, with Françoise Houle, answered questions.

At 12:50 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
