MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 45

Thursday, October 8, 1998

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met "in camera" at 11:40 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, John Godfrey, Joe Jordan, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Ted McWhinney, Dennis Mills, Mark Muise.

Acting Members present: Bryon Wilfert for Sarmite Bulte and Benoît Sauvageau for Suzanne Tremblay.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais, Researcher.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to consider its future business.

It was agreed,-- That

- The Clerk invite the witnesses who have requested to appear regarding the Committee study on Canadian cultural policy;

- Legislation referred to the Committee take precedence over the study;

- The Research Officer, Mr. Gaston Blais, be given a mandate to prepare a draft report on the Canadian cultural policy;

- The Steering Committee meet to provide drafting guidelines; and

- The Committee proceed to seek additional operation and travel funds.

At 12:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
