MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

(Meeting No. 17)

 

(THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1998)

 

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:15 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Clifford Lincoln, Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Pat O'Brien, Jim Abbott, Deepak Obhrai, Caroline St-Hilaire, Suzanne Tremblay, Wendy Lill and Mark Muise.

 

Acting Members present: Karen Redman for Jacques Saada.

 

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: René Lemieux and Susan Alter, Research Officers.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: John Gray, Writer & Composer and Wanda Noël, Consultant, Barrister & Solicitor. From "Centre international pour le développement de l'inforoute en français (CIFIF)": Jocelyn Nadeau, Chief Executive Officer.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of the Envolving Role of the Federal Government in Support of Culture in Canada.

 

Wanda Noël, John Gray and Jocelyn Nadeau made opening statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed,--That the witnesses be invited to a lunch at the Parliamentary Restaurant this noon.

 

At 12:55 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
