Meeting No. 64

Thursday, February 11, 1999

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:11 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Maurice Dumas, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Ted McWhinney, and Suzanne Tremblay.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Luc Gagné, Research Officer.

Witnesses: :From the Fisheries Council of Canada: Patrick McGuinness, Vice-President; From the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance: Marc Kielley, Executive Director, Newfoundland; Pierre Stang, Acting Executive Director; Dr. Myron Roth, Acting Executive Director, Salmon Health Consortium.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Tuesday, December 1, 1998, a study of Bill C-48, An Act respecting marine conservation areas.

Patrick McGuinness and Marc Kielley made statements and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
