MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
Meeting No. 01

Tuesday, October 7, 1997

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:05 o’clock a.m. this day in Room 308 West Block, for the purposes of electing a Chair and Vice-Chairs, pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and 106(2).

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Joe Jordan, Pat O'Brien, Jacques Saada, Jim Abbott, Deepak Obhrai, Caroline St-Hilaire, Suzanne Tremblay, Wendy Lill and Mark Muise.

Acting Members present: Carolyn Bennett for Clifford Lincoln and Bob Kilger for Dennis Mills.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair.

Sarmite Bulte moved,--That Clifford Lincoln be elected Chair of the Committee.

Accordingly, Clifford Lincoln was duly elected, in absentia, Chair of the Committee.

The Clerk presided over the election of an acting chair .

On motion of Paul Bonwick, it was agreed,-- That Pat O'Brian be elected chair for the meeting.

On motion of Deepak Obhrai, it was agreed,-- That Jim Abbott be elected Vice-chair of the Committee.

On motion of Jacques Saada, it was agreed,-- That Mauril Bélanger be elected Vice-chair of the Committee.

At 11:10 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
