MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 14)

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1997

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:05 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 269, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Joe Jordan, Dennis Mills, Jacques Saada, Deepak Obhrai, Caroline St-Hilaire, Suzanne Tremblay, Wendy Lill, Mark Muise and Karen Kraft-Sloan.

Acting Members present: Karen Kraft-Sloan for Clifford Lincoln.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: René Lemieux and Susan Alter, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Laval University: Ivan Bernier, Professor, Faculty of Law. From the Canadian Conference of the Arts: Keith Kelly, National Director and Gary Neil, Consultant.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of the Canadian Culture Study

Keith Kelly, Gary Neil and Ivan Bernier made opening statements and answered questions.

By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to consider its future business.

It was agreed,--That the Committee approve a budget of $32,000 for the period from January 1 to March 31, 1998.

At 12:10 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
