(Meeting No. 22)

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11, 1998

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in room

253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Clifford Lincoln, Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Pat O'Brien, Jim Abbott, Deepak Obhrai and Mark Muise.

Acting Member present: Julian Reed for Jacques Saada and Suzanne Tremblay for Louis Plamondon.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: René Lemieux and Susan Alter, Research Officers.

Appearing: The Honourable Sheila Copps, P.C., Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Participants: Round Table on Film and Video: Marie-Josée Corbeil, Vice-President and General Counsel, Cinar Films; Michel Dupuy, Former Minister of Canadian Heritage; David Latchman, President, The River Production Company Inc.; Keith Ross Leckie, Script Writer, Tapestry Films; Jefferson Lewis, Script-Writer and Ted East, Vice-President, Productions & Acquisitions, Alliance Communications.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the consideration of the Canadian Cultural Study and proceeded to host the Parliamentary Forum on Canadian Culture, International Trade and Technology in the year 2000.

The Chair made opening remarks.

The Honourable Sheila Copps made opening remarks.

The Minister, Members and participants proceeded to a round table discussion on Film and Video.

At 5:33 o'clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
