TUESDAY, MAY 26, 1998
The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 705, La Promenade Building, the Acting Chair, John Finlay, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Joe Jordan, Wendy Lill, Dennis Mills, Pat O'Brien, Jim Pankiw, Jacques Saada and Suzanne Tremblay.
Acting Member present: John Finlay for Clifford Lincoln; and Gerald Keddy for Mark Muise.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais and René Lemieux, Research Officers.
Appearing: The Honourable Andy Mitchell, Secretary of State for Parks.
Witness: From the Department of Canadian Heritage: Bruce Amos, Acting Director, National Parks.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated Friday, April 3, 1998, a study of Bill C-38, An Act to amend the National Parks Act.
The Hon. Andy Mitchell made a presentation and, with Bruce Amos, answered questions.
On motion of Dennis Mills, It was agreed,--That the Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada extend its deadline to November 1, 1998.
At 5:53 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
