Meeting No. 60

Wednesday, February 3, 1999

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, John Godfrey, Raymond Lavigne, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Inky Mark, Ted McWhinney, Mark Muise and Suzanne Tremblay.

Acting Member present: Maurice Dumas for Caroline St-Hilaire.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Gaston Blais, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Richard Flageole, Assistant Auditor General and Ginette Moreau, Canadian Heritage, Arts and Culture Principal.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Consideration of the National Arts Centre, Mandate, Resources, Management and Operations: Special Examination Report presented to the Board of Trustees on June 29, 1998.

L. Denis Desautels made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
