The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:33 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Charles Caccia, presiding.

Witnesses: From Public Works and Government Services: Joan Catterson, Director General, Corporate Policy and Planning Sector, Government Operational Service. From Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada: D. Oulton, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Branch and Ray L. Desjardins, Research Scientist, Centre for Land and Biological Resources, Research Branch, Central Experimental Farm. From Transport Canada: Ron Sully, Assistant Deputy Minister, Programs and Divestiture. From Industry Canada: Ron Harper, Director and Associate Manager, Environmental Affairs Branch. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of climate change issues in relation to Canadian preparations for the Conference of the Parties on the U.N. Convention on Climate Change (See Minutes of Proceedings, dated Thursday, October 23, 1997, Meeting no. 6).
The witnesses made opening statements and, with Ray L. Desjardins and Bill Toms, answered questions.
At 6:04 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
