THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1997

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 9:08 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Charles Caccia, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Charles Caccia, Chuck Cadman, Aileen Carroll, Rick Casson, Yvon Charbonneau, Christiane Gagnon, John Herron, Gar Knutson, Karen Kraft Sloan, David Pratt.

Other Member present: Monique Guay.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Murray, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From Environment Canada: Roger Street, Director, Environmental Adaptation and Research Group, Atmospheric Environment Service. From The Bedford Institute: R. Allyn Clarke, Acting Manager, Ocean Sciences Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of climate change issues in relation to Canadian preparations for the Conference of the Parties on the U.N. Convention on Climate Change (See Minutes of Proceedings, dated Thursday, October 23, 1997, Meeting no. 6).

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 11:57 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
