MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 16)

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1997

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 9:08 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Charles Caccia, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Charles Caccia, Chuck Cadman, Aileen Carroll, Rick Casson, Yvon Charbonneau, Christiane Gagnon, Bill Gilmour, John Herron, Gar Knutson, Karen Kraft Sloan, David Pratt.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Murray, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Royal Society of Canada: Jim Bruce, Member.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its consideration of climate change issues in relation to Canadian preparations for the Conference of the Parties on the U.N. Convention on Climate Change (See Minutes of Proceedings, dated Thursday, October 23, 1997, Meeting no. 6).

The witness made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 10:35 o’clock a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

The Committee discussed a draft report.

It was agreed, --That from time to time, at the request of a Member or staff person of the Committee and if authorised by the Chair, the Clerk be authorised to order books or publications for the use of the Committee, particularly if the publications are not available or difficult to obtain from the Library of Parliament.

At 11:03 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
