Wednesday, April 21, 1999

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:24 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Albina Guarnieri, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Brenda Chamberlain, Denis Coderre, Christiane Gagnon, Albina Guarnieri, John O'Reilly, The Hon. Andy Scott, Maurice Vellacott and Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Member(s) present: Reg Alcock for BonnieBrown, Jocelyne Girard-Bujold for Paul Crête and Carolyn Bennett for Larry McCormick.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder and Bill Young, Research Officers.

Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Canada: Jean-Pierre Voyer, Director General, Applied Research Branch, Strategic Policy; Glynnis French, Director General, Labour Market Policy, Strategic Policy; Serge Bertrand, Director, Evaluation Services, Evaluation and Data Development, Strategic Policy.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of its study on Older Workers.

At 3:31 p.m. the Acting Chair, Andy Scott took the Chair as Acting Chairman.

Jean-Pierre Voyer, Serge Bertrand and Glynnis French made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
