The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Albina Guarnieri, presiding.
Members of the Committee Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Claudette Bradshaw, Bonnie Brown, Brenda Chamberlain, Hec Clouthier, Paul Crête, Jean Dubé, John Godfrey, Albina Guarnieri, Dale Johnston, Larry McCormick, John O'Reilly and Maurice Vellacott.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder and Bill Young, Research Officers.
Witnesses:From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; David Rattray, Assistant Auditor General; Maurice Laplante, Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of Chapter 16 (Human Resources Development - Management of the Social Insurance Number) of the September 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada
Denis Desautels made an opening statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 5:13 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
