Meeting No. 15

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1997


The Standing Committee on Human Resources and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Reg Alcock, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Rob Anders, Carolyn Bennett, Brenda Chamberlain, Paul Crête, Christinae Gagnon and Robert Nault.


Associate Member present: Angela Vautour.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder, Research Officer.


Witnesses: From the Department of Human Resources Development: Norine Smith, Assistant Deputy Minister, Insurance; John McWhinnie, Director General, Insurance Policy; Doug Matheson, Director General, Insurance Services; Diane Carroll, Director, Employment Insurance Policy Directorate.

 

Pursuant to the Order of Reference, the Committee resumed a series of briefings on the department assigned to it. Today’s session being on Employment Insurance. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, October 28, 1997, Meeting No. 4).


Norine Smith made a statement, and along with the other witnesses answered questions.


At 4:45 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
