MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 65

Wednesday, June 9, 1999

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 3:58 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Albina Guarnieri, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Bonnie Brown, Paul Crête, John Godfrey, Albina Guarnieri, Larry McCormick, John O'Reilly and Maurice Vellacott..

Acting Members present: Carolyn Bennett for Brenda Chamberlain, Carmen Provenzano for Bryon Wilfert

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr and William Young, Research Officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of its interim report on Older Workers.

After debate, it was agreed:

That the report as amended, "Looking Ahead: An Interim report on Older Workers" be adopted as the 7th Report of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

That the Clerk be authorized to make such editorial and typographical changes as necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

That the Chair be authorized to present the Report to the House.

That your Committee requests that the Government table a comprehensive response within 30 days after Parliament resumes following its adjournment and/or prorogation.

 

It was agreed, That the report of Barbara Schober, the recipient of the Centennial Flame Research Award for the year 1998 be tabled in the House and that Darrell Swain be the winner of the 1999 Centennial Flame Research Award.

 

At 4:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
