THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 1998
The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a Videoteleconference at 3:46 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, George Baker, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: George Baker, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Carmen Provenzano, Paul Steckle and Peter Stoffer who was present by Videteleconference in Vancouver.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer
Other Member present: Paul DeVillers for Gar Knutson.
Witnesses: From the Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Mike Henderson, Director, Fisheries Research Branch. From the West Coast Sustainability Association: John Young. From the Coastal Communities Network: Russ Helberg, Chair & Mayor of Port Hardy. From the Native Brotherhood of B.C.: Christine Hunt, First Vice-President. From United Food and Allied Workers Union (CAW): John Radosevic, President; John Sutcliffe. From the Area G. Trollers Association: Wilf Caron, Director. From United Fishermen and Allied Workers' Union: John Stevens. From T. Buck Suzuki Environmental Foundation: Mae Burrows, Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of Fisheries Issues on the West Coast.
