The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 10:20 o’clock a.m., this day, in Legion Hall, Neguac, New-Brunswick, the President, George Baker, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: George Baker, Yvan Bernier, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn and Bill Matthews.

Other Member present: Yvon Godin.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Maritime Fishermen's Union: Michael Beliveau, Zoel Breau, Frank McLaughlin, Ron Cormier and Reginald Comeau. From the Miramichi Watershed Management Committee Inc.: Alex Mills, Bruce Whipple, Manley Price and Grant Ross.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee considered the Fisheries Management in the Atlantic Provinces.

Michael Beliveau made an opening statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 11:55 o'clock a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:00 o'clock noon, the sitting resumed.

Alex Mills made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 1:05 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to later this day.
