MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

(Meeting No. 32)

THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 1998

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera at 9:45 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, George Baker, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: George Baker, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gar Knutson, Sophia Leung, Bill Matthews, Carmen Provenzano and Paul Steckle.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the Draft Report on Fisheries Management on the West Coast.

It was agreed, - That the Interim draft Report of the Committee on its West Coast Trip be adopted as the Committee's Second Report to the House.

It was agreed, - That the title of the Report be "The West Coast Report".

It was agreed, - That the Committee Report be printed in accordance with the policy established by the Board of Internal Economy and that the Committee print an additional 1,000 copies of its Report.

It was agreed, - That the Committee invite officials from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to appear before the Committee to give testimony on the observer reports which were reported on throughout East Coast during the week of March 16, 1998.

At 11:40 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
