Tuesday, November 24, 1998
The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Chuck Cadman, Shaughnessy Cohen, Ivan Grose, Derek Lee, John Maloney, John McKay and John Reynolds.
Acting Members present: Monique Guay for Michel Bellehumeur and Bev Desjarlais for Peter Mancini.
Other Member present: Nancy Karetak - Lindell.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst and Mary Hurley, Researcher.

Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Thursday, October 29, 1998, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-57, An Act to amend the Nunavut Act with respect to the Nunavut Court of Justice and to amend other Acts in consequence. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, November 19, 1998, Meeting No. 100).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
