Wednesday, October 21, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Eleni Bakopanos, Michel Bellehumeur, Chuck Cadman, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Ivan Grose, Derek Lee, Peter MacKay, John Maloney, Peter Mancini, Richard Marceau, John McKay and Jacques Saada.

Acting Member present: Randy White for John Reynolds.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marilyn Pilon, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), a study of the Victims' Role in the Criminal Justice System

The Committee continued its consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, -- That the Committee authorize the printing of a dissenting opinion by the Bloc Québécois as an appendix to the report and that it be in the Clerk's possession no later than Monday, October 26, 1998.

It was agreed, -- That the Clerk order Martin's Criminal Codes for the members of the Committee and the Research Staff.

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
