The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:45 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Maloney, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Chuck Cadman, Aileen Carroll, Peter MacKay and John Maloney.

Acting Member(s) present: Richard Harris for Jim Abbott, Pierre Brien for Michel Bellehumeur.

Morrison, President and CEO; Howard Collins, Executive Vice-President; Blair Dickerson, Director, Public Affairs; From the Association of Canadian Distillers: Jan Westcott, President and CEO; Paul MacLaren, Vice-President, Marketing; From the Canadian Restaurant and Food Services Association: Joyce Reynolds, Senior Director, Government Affairs; Donald R. Webster, Member; From the Hotel Association of Canada: Anthony P. Pollard, President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 68(4)(a) and the Order of Reference dated Thursday, October 30, 1997, the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights resumed consideration of the Criminal Code impaired driving provisions. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Wednesday, February 3, 1999, Meeting No. 109)

R.A. Morrison from the Brewers Association of Canada made an opening statement and along with Howard Collins and Blair Dickerson answered questions.

Jan Westcott from the Association of Canadian Distillers made an opening statement and answered questions.

Donald Webster from the Canadian Restaurant and Food Services Association made an opening statement, and along with Joyce Reynolds answered questions.

Anthony Pollard from the Hotel Association of Canada made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 5:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
