MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

MEETING No. 51

Tuesday, APRIL 21, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met in camera at 9:25 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Michel Bellehumeur, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Sheila Finestone, Paul E. Forseth, Derek Lee, Peter G. MacKay, John Maloney, Peter Mancini, John McKay, Jack Ramsay et Andrew Telegdi.

In attendance: : From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst, Nancy Holmes, Research Officer.

The Committee proceeded to discuss its future business.

It was moved, -- That the budget of the Committee for the study of the Victims’ role in the Criminal Justice System in the amount of $ 73, 040.00 be adopted.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was agreed to.

It was agreed, -- That the provincial civil servants of the policy and program sectors related to the study of the victims’ role in the Criminal Justice System be invited to appear during the week of May 11, 1998.

At 10:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
