MEETING No. 65

Wednesday, May 6, 1998

The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 4:37 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Shaughnessy Cohen, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Shaughnessy Cohen, Paul DeVillers, Derek Lee, Peter G. MacKay, John Maloney et Jack Ramsay.

Acting Member present: Ken Epp for Paul E. Forseth.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst, Nancy Holmes, Research Officer.

Witness: Colleen Beaumier, Member for Brampton West - Mississauga.

The Order of Reference dated Tuesday, April 21, being read as follows :

ORDERED, -- That Bill C-208, an Act to amend the Access to Information Act, be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee of Justice and Human Rights.

Colleen Beaumier made a statement and answered questions.

At 4:55 p.m., the Vice-Chair John Maloney took the Chair.

At 5:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
