The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:30 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 253-D of the Centre Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Bonnie Brown, Tony Ianno, Marlene Jennings, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Jim Pankiw, Janko Peric, Werner Schmidt, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: : Daniel Brassard, Antony Jackson and Nathalie Pothier, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study on a document entitled "Sustaining Canada as an Innovative Society: An Action Agenda".
Witnesses: British High Commission Ottawa: Sir Anthony Goodenough, British High Commissioner and Sir Robert May, Chief Scientific Advisor.
Sir Robert May made a statement and answered questions.
At 4:25 o’clock p.m. the sitting was suspended.
At 4:28 o’clock p.m. the sitting resumed.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Information Technology: Preparedness for Year 2000.
Witness: Canadian Federation of Independent Business: Catherine Swift, President.
Catherine Swift made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:25 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
