Tuesday, June 1st, 1999
The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, Rahim Jaffer, Jim Jones, Stan Keyes, Francine Lalonde, Walt Lastewka, Ian Murray, Janko Peric, Nelson Riis, Alex Shepherd and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard and Antony Jackson, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Canada Foundation for Innovation: Dr. David W. Strangway, President and Chief Executive Officer; Carmen Charette, Vice-President, Programs; Manon Harvey, Vice-President, Finance, Finance.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study of a document entitled "Sustaining Canada as an Innovative Society: An Action Agenda".
Dr. David Strangway made an opening statement and with the witnesses answered questions.
At 10:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:03 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of a draft report.
At 12:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
