The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Eugène Bellemare, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Eric Lowther, Ian Murray, Janko Peric and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Daniel Brassard, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Coast Guard: William J.S. Elliott, Deputy Commissioner; Jacques E. Clavelle, Director General; From the Canadian Shipowners Association: Donald Morrison, President; Réjean Lanteigne, Vice-President, Operations; From Canadian National: Jim S. Bright, Director, Business Systems; Robert Cantin, Manager, Corporate Year 2000; From the Canadian Trucking Alliance: Michelle LeBlanc, Director, Policy and Research.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a study on Information Technology: Preparedness for Year 2000.
Mr. William J.S. Elliott, Mr. Donald Morrison, Mr. Jim S. Bright and Ms. Michelle LeBlanc each made a statement and with the witnesses answered questions.
