The Standing Committee on Industry met at 9:10 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.

Pursuant to an Order of Reference of the House dated Tuesday, November 25, 1997, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-17, An Act to amend the Telecommunications Act and the Teleglobe Canada Reorganization and Divestiture Act.

Guthrie Stewart made a statement and, with the other witness from Teleglobe, answered questions.
Marie Vallée from the "Fédération Nationale des Associations de Consommateurs du Québec", and Philippa Lawson from the Public Interest Advocacy Centre, each made a statement and, with the other witness from the Consumers’ Association of Canada,answered questions.
Christian Tacit from Georeach made a statement and answered questions.
Timothy Denton from the Canadian Association of Internet Providers, made a statement and answered questions.
David Coleville made a statement and, with the other witnesses from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, answered questions.
