It was agreed, — That the briefing note entitled “Political Party Leaders’ Debates in Canada and Selected Jurisdictions” be treated as a public document.
The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.
It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Support for Members of Parliament with Young Children".
It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.
It was agreed, — That dissenting or supplementary opinions be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
It was agreed, — That an electronic copy of the report be sent to all Members of Parliament.
ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
At 11:34 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:52 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
David Christopherson moved, — That, in relation to the study of the creation of an independent commissioner responsible for leaders’ debates, a Member of Parliament who is not a member of a recognized party be allowed to participate in the Committee’s proceedings, and that the Member participating be included in the rotation for the questioning of witnesses.
Debate arose thereon.
At 1:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
