Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2018-19: Vote 1 under House of Commons, Vote 1 under Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and Vote 1 under Parliamentary Protective Service, referred to the Committee on Monday, April 16, 2018.

The Chair called Vote 1 under House of Commons.

The Speaker of the House of Commons made a statement and, with Charles Robert, Michel Patrice, Daniel G. Paquette, Patrick McDonell, Jane MacLatchy and Robert Graham, answered questions.

Vote 1 under House of Commons carried on division.

The Chair called Vote 1 under Parliamentary Protective Service.

Vote 1 under Parliamentary Protective Service carried on division.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Stéphane Perrault made a statement and, with Michel Roussel and Hughes St-Pierre, answered questions.

Blake Richards gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee undertake a study of the subject matter of Treasury Board Vote 40 in the Main Estimates 2018-19, in respect of the funding proposed for leaders’ debates and election integrity, and invite witnesses from the Privy Council Office and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to appear, respectively, on those initiatives.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

The Chair called Vote 1 under Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

Vote 1 under Office of the Chief Electoral Officer carried on division.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 1 under House of Commons, Vote 1 under Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and Vote 1 under Parliamentary Protective Service, less the amounts voted in the Interim Estimates, to the House.

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
