Pursuant to Standing Order 32(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the report of the Chief Electoral Officer entitled "An Electoral Framework for the 21st Century: Recommendations from the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Following the 42nd General Election", referred to the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

Marc Mayrand made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:44 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:49 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, September 29, 2016, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee invite Chief Superintendent Michael Duheme, Director, Parliamentary Protective Service, to provide an in camera briefing on the Parliamentary Protective Service and the security arrangement within the parliamentary precinct during the first hour of its meeting on October 18, 2016.

2. That, during the second hour of its meeting on October 18, 2016, the Committee resume its study of the Chief Electoral Officer’s report entitled "An Electoral Framework for the 21st Century: Recommendations from the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Following the 42nd General Election".

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the order adopted on September 22, 2016, the Committee not meet on Thursday, October 6, 2016.

At 12:55 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
