Meeting No. 60

Thursday, April 25, 2002

The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Rick Borotsik, Marlene Catterall, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Dale Johnston, Joe Jordan, John Richardson, Jacques Saada and Tony Tirabassi.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, research officer.

Witnesses: From the House of Commons: MGen. G. Cloutier, Sergeant-at-Arms; Michel Thivierge, Director, Security Services. From the RCMP: Dawson Hovey, Commanding Officer "A" Division.

On motion of Dale Johnston, it was agreed, -- That Val Meredith replace Gerry Ritz on the Sub-Committee on Private Members’ Business.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of security on the Hill.

The witnesses answered questions.

At 12:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

In accordance with the mandate of the Committee concerning its responsibilities as the Striking Committee and in accordance with an Order adopted on Wednesday, February 7, 2001, the Fifty-Second Report is deemed to have been adopted and the Chair is ordered to present it to the House.
