Tuesday, June 11, 2002

 

The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Garry Breitkreuz, Pierre Brien, Wayne Easter, Michel Guimond, Dale Johnston, Joe Jordan, Carolyn Parrish, John Reynolds, John Richardson and Jacques Saada.

 

Acting Members present: Diane Marleau for Marlene Catterall; Mac Harb for Geoff Regan; Larry Bagnell for Tony Tirabassi; Joe Comartin for Yvon Godin.

 

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, research officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of security on the Hill.

Witness: From the House of Commons: Marie-Andrée Lajoie, Principal Clerk, House Proceedings.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3), consideration of security on the Hill.

It was agreed that the Chair write a letter to Major General Cloutier on the subject of access to the Hill for school visits.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3), the Committee resumed consideration of the existing procedures governing Private Members' Business.

 

The Chair presented the Third Report of the Sub-committee on Agenda and Procedure.

 

It was agreed, -- That the Third Report of the Sub-committee on Agenda and Procedure be adopted as the Committee's report and that the Chair present it to the House

 

It was agreed, -- That the researcher and clerk be authorized, in consultation with the Chair, to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

 

It was agreed, -- That the researcher and clerk be authorized, in consultation with the Chair, to write an introduction to the report.

 

At 11:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
