Meeting No. 35

Tuesday, November 6, 2001

The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:13 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Pierre Brien, Marlene Catterall, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Jay Hill, Joe Jordan, Paul Macklin, Geoff Regan, John Richardson, Jacques Saada and Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Member present: Scott Reid for Richard Harris.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, research officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 32(5), consideration of Referendum Regulation proposed by the Chief Electoral Officer, pursuant to the Referendum Act, S.C. 1992, c. 30, sbs. 7(6).

The Committee proceeded to its consideration of a draft report.

On motion of Jacques Saada, it was agreed, - That the draft report, as amended, be adopted as the Committee’s Report and that the Chair present the Report to the House.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), consideration of electoral boundaries readjustment process in Canada, and of the issue of householders sent during an election campaign.

It was agreed, - That Jean-Pierre Kingsley be invited before the Committee during the first week of December.

Consideration of guidelines for Legislative Services and Committee Directorate.

It was agreed, - That the Chair consult with the Members of the Committee on changes to the letter to the Board of Internal Economy.

At 11:42 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
