Thursday, March 1st, 2001

The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Stéphane Bergeron, Marlene Catterall, Michel Guimond, Joe Jordan, Derek Lee, Paul Macklin, Carolyn Parrish, Geoff Regan, John Reynolds, John Richardson, Chuck Strahl and Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Members present: Scott Reid for Grant McNally; Libby Davies for Yvon Godin.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, research officer.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer: Jean-Pierre Kingsley, Chief Electoral Officer; Patricia J. Hassard, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer; Rennie Molnar, Director, Register and Geography; Luc Dumont, Director, Operations; Janice Vézina, Director, Election Financing; Diane Davidson, Director, Legal Services and Registrar of Political Parties.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2001.

Jean-Pierre Kingsley made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 1:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
