The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Vice-Chair, Rob Merrifield, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Reg Alcock, Colleen Beaumier, Stan Dromisky, James Lunney, Rob Merrifield, Hélène Scherrer, Judy Sgro, Yolande Thibeault, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Acting Members present: Preston Manning for Diane Ablonczy, Pauline Picard for Diane Bourgeois.
Associate Members present: Preston Manning, Pauline Picard.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Canadian Environmental Law Association: Paul Muldoon, Executive Director. From the Pembina Institute: Mark Winfield, Special Adviser, Organizational Services. From the Council of Canadians with Disabilities: Kathy Marshall, Secretary, National Coordinator and Projects Supervisor, Disabled Women's Network. From the Canadian Association for Community Living: Audrey Cole, Former Board Member, Parent.
The Committee resumed consideration of the draft legislation on Assisted Human Reproduction. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, May 3, 2001, Meeting No. 13.)
The witnesses each made a statement and answered questions.
At 12:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 1:01 p.m., the sitting was resumed, and the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.
At 1:01 p.m., the Chair, Bonnie Brown, took the Chair.
At 2:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
