MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 21

Tuesday, June 12, 2001

The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:16 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Ray Bonin, Bonnie Brown, Jeannot Castonguay, Yvon Charbonneau, James Lunney, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Stephen Owen, Hélène Scherrer and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, research officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced consideration of a draft report to the House on its recent study in relation to the safety of the Canadian blood supply.

It was agreed, - That the Committee examine the text of a draft report prepared by its research officers.

It was agreed, - That a decision as to the tabling of a report on donor exclusion and the safety of the Canadian blood supply be delayed until after the summer recess.

It was agreed, - That the draft report be modified by the Committee's researchers to reflect the concerns expressed by members at today's meeting, and that the Committee meet again to consider the revised draft at the call of the Chair.

At 1:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
