The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Jeannot Castonguay, Réal Ménard, Hélène Scherrer, Bob Speller, Yolande Thibeault and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Acting Member present: Marcel Gagnon for Diane Bouregeois.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the The Plant Biotechnology Institute (NCR), Saskatoon: Wilf Keller, Director of Research. From the University of Guelph: Alan G. Wildeman, Vice-President (Research), Professor, Molecular Biology and Genetics. From the Genetic ID Inc., Fairfield, Iowa: John Fagan, President. From the The Centre for the Biology of Natural Systems, Queen's College at the University of New York: Barry Commoner, Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the Labelling of Genetically Modified Foods.
The witnesses each made a statement and answered questions.
At 1:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
