The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, André Bachand, Jeannot Castonguay, Brenda Chamberlain, Stan Dromisky, Rob Merrifield, Judy Sgro, Yolande Thibeault, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.
Acting Members present: Preston Manning for Diane Ablonczy, Pauline Picard for Diane Bourgeois.
Associate Members present: Preston Manning, Pauline Picard.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Royal Commission on Reproductive and Genetic
Technologies (1989 - 1993): Maureen McTeer, Former Commissioner. From
the University of Manitoba: Gordon Giesbrecht, PhD, Professor, Faculty of
Physical Education and Recreation studies. From the "Université du Québec à
Montréal":
Louise Vandelac, PhD, Full Professor, Department of Sociology, "Institut
des sciences de l'environnement".
The Committee resumed consideration of the draft legislation on Assisted Human Reproduction. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Thursday, May 3, 2001, Meeting No. 13.)
The witnesses each made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
