The Standing Committee on Health met at 11:17 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Yvon Charbonneau, Réal Ménard, Rob Merrifield, Hélène Scherrer, Judy Sgro, Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier and Sonya Norris, research officers.

Witnesses: From the Canadian AIDS Society: Brian Huskins, Representative; Douglas Elliott, Legal Counsel. From the "Coalition des organismes communautaires québécois de lutte contre le sida": Roger Leclerc, Executive Director. From the "Table de concertation des gais et lesbiennes du Québec": Pierre Valois, President; Laurent McCutcheon, Vice-President for Political Action. From the Canadian Hemophilia Society: John Plater, Member of the Board of Directors. From EGALE (Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere): John Fisher, Executive Director; Ron Chaplin, Chairman, Political Action Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its examination of the relation of certain donor exclusion policies to the safety of the Canadian Blood Supply.

Douglas Elliott made a statement and, with Brian Huskins, answered questions.

Roger Leclerc made a statement and answered questions.

Laurent McCutcheon made a statement and, with Pierre Valois, answered questions.

John Plater made a statement and answered questions.

John Fisher made a statement and, together with Ron Chaplin, answered questions.

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
